TMT Artist Clique

Thomas | Moran | Tecosky

TMT Collective is named after the three glass artists that currently contribute. Kimberly Thomas, John Moran, and Leo Tecosky came together to create exhibitions with a common understanding of material innovation and narrative sculpture in their field. Read the manifesto

Artist Kimberly Thomas is wearing a hat and sunglasses seen at her glass blowing torch. Her face is lit with the flame of the torch and she is focusing on the work that she is holding to melt in the flame.

Kimberly Thomas

Kimberly Thomas is a biracial interdisciplinary sculptor and flameworker. She is a current artist in residence at Penland School of Crafts in Bakersville, NC. and is known for her work’s intentionally flawed and unusual motifs as well as her intricate sculptural inventions.

Artist John Moran from the chest up smiles at the camera against a out-of-focus colorful studio background.

John Moran

John ‘sleepy’ Moran is a contemporary artist, using glass as his primary medium. He seamlessly blends impeccably sculpted glass components into representational sculptures, weaving in fabric, found objects, resins, and a variety of other materials into his work.

Artist Leo Tecosky wearing a hat and glasses looks down at a large lump of molten glass on the end of a glass blowing pipe he is shaping against a table, hot shop in the background

Leo Tecosky

Leo Tecosky deconstructs iconography through an impressive range of glassmaking techniques. From graffiti letters etched with Islamic patterns to hot-sculpted, Wildstyle-arrow installations, Tecosky juxtaposes the complexity of visual language with the fluidity and transparency of glass.

TMT Manifesto

To acquire knowledge, one must study; but to acquire wisdom, one must observe.

-Marilyn Vos Savant

Art has become a continuous cycle, driven by vapid decorativism. A monotonous set of academic exercises has been deemed ‘conceptual', regurgitated idealistic notions have become synonymous with ‘technical expertise', and unremarkable factory fabrications are artlessly regarded as ‘high craft'. We bear witness to the disposal of artistic integrity, the scrapping of critical creation and, to the reality that the art world is modeled in the likeness of patriarchal hegemony.

Defiantly, we see what the viewer has forgotten. There is beauty in the unknown, the derelict, and the overlooked. There are more important themes than decoration and celebration. We are here to make a change. We are a manifestation of intersecting timelines and divergent methods of working intertwined with a distinct awareness of socio-political concepts, spiritual and metaphysical ideologies, as well as, the rhythmic and somatic qualities of glass. We are TMT. Our objective is simple and clear: to initiate the evolution that will eclipse the status quo. We are visionaries, a radical clique of international sculptors, founded by Kimberly Thomas, John Moran, and Leo Tecosky.

United by a material, bound by a search for cognizance and authenticity. We fill the void. We seek depth. We seek substance.

We seek intention. We are the quintessence, volatile and poised to ignite. We are the red pill, dangerous to ingest, dilating your third eye, opening your mind to true understanding. We are NOT silent observers. We are Thomas, Moran, Tecosky.
